Adopt A Career / Working Cat

Career Cats Adoption Program

We’re located in the Hampton Roads region of Southeastern Virginia.

Consider a couple of Working Cats?

In return for room-and-board, the cats give you an eco-friendly solution to rodent (or other pest) problems, saving money on damages. No poisons, 100% all-natural!

Adopting two or more working felines also means you are saving lives!

What are Career Cats?

Ranging from independent to semi-feral, working cats serve a vital “health & welfare” role in the human economy. They thank their “employers” every day for a barn or business to call their own (warehouse, farm, workshop, shipyard, office or store, government installation, etc.) to monitor and manage mice and other undesirable vermin, wherever PEST CONTROL is needed and that’s just about anywhere! Career Cats show up ready-for-work.

They are healthy, vaccinated, parasite-free, spayed or neutered, and ear-tipped the universal sign that an outside cat has been sterilized. You provide cozy shelter, fresh water and cat food daily.

What do you Provide?

You offer the cats:

  • Secure, warm, and dry sheltered space
  • Place to remain in a sheltered crate for three (3) weeks while adapting to their new home
  • Two (2) meals per day of cat food
  • Access to fresh water
  • Medical care, as needed in the future

What should you Expect?

Feral Affairs Network (FAN) places one, two, or more Career Cats with you, specially selected for your property or business location. Cats are social animals, so we recommend two (2) or more cats be placed together for better rodent control, as well as being safer and happier felines.

FAN transports the cats to you and sets up temporary acclimation crates (this is a free FAN loaner!) for them to adjust to their new surroundings. And we provide the first two weeks of food and litter. Training is provided.

No adoption fees required!

Donations always welcome!

Feral Affairs Network (FAN) is a wholly volunteer-run, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and we depend entirely on donations to fund our operations. We take on significant expenses to provide our cats and kittens with the best possible care, including spay/neuter surgeries, vaccines, food, shelter, and other veterinary care. To help defray at least some of these costs, we request an adoption fee, money that acts as a donation to help support the FAN mission to reduce the suffering and unnecessary euthanasia of feral (community) cats through trap-neuter-return (TNR).
